The answer is yes. Psilocybin was legalized in Colorado through the Natural Medicine Act, and there are currently two legal ways to work with psilocybin.
The first is what we might call personal use or a harm reduction model. In this approach, an individual uses psilocybin on their own, often with a guide who is there to help reduce harm. If something difficult or overwhelming arises during the journey, that person can offer support, help you feel grounded, and attend to your basic needs so that you can move through the experience as safely as possible.
The second option is the regulated model. This takes place in licensed healing centers with trained facilitators. These sessions are required to include preparation and integration, meaning there is support both before and after the psilocybin experience. During the journey itself, you are accompanied by a facilitator who helps create a safe container for the work.
Both pathways offer different ways of engaging with psilocybin, and understanding the legal framework can help you decide what feels most aligned with your needs.
